8 ways to have a successful Kickstarter campaign

Kickstarter is the most popular crowdfunding platform. More and more artists, creative souls and wearables entrepreneurs, such as the Woolet team, are choosing to fundraise with its modest help.

According to statistics, in 2014, over 3.3 million backers paid $ 500 million to cover 22.225 projects. Before Kickstarter, access to funds was significantly limited. Wearables, artistic installations, video projects, innovative games, and potato salads existed primarily in the sphere of dreams. Kickstarter changed the lives of millions of people, and it is worth noting that it is not only a tool for collecting money but also a place for exchanging sentences. It is here that each wizard receives the first feedback, an extremely valuable source for project evaluation. A democratic crowdfunding environment highly knows your needs and supports only what really deserves attention.

If you start with a project on Kickstarter, you certainly believe in it with all your might. Meanwhile, statistics are inexorable and show that some designers fail to achieve their goal. The effort seems to be wasted then, and the money returns to the backers’ accounts.  The Wooleta campaign was a fantastic success, six days before its end we were sure of having $ 252,299 from 2,023 backers. Below you will find a few things that we think are necessary to create a successful campaign.

1. Set a low goal

Work as much as you need to implement the project. Calculate all costs associated with it, and later set a slightly higher goal. To determine the next, use stretch goals that work on the Kickstarter in the form of milestones, encouraging the audience to support.

2. Invest in photos

Backers need to know what to support. There is no question about blurry photos taken on a mobile phone. Take the right amount of time to create high-quality photos, and you can easily attract the attention of the virtual community.

3. Video

Wake up emotions. The backers want to feel the emotional bond with the creators of the project. After all, it’s easier to support someone you like, right? Video is the best form of presenting the information. It should be short, meaningful and accurately describing the product.

4. The cost of prizes

Depending on the project, you need an operating budget to run a campaign that will easily cover the costs of the prizes. The awards themselves depend only on the creativity of the creators. It can be an autograph, a special edition of the project or a meeting with the authors.

5. Marketing is the foundation

The campaign must be thought through. Marketing activities in a short time can bring a lot of publicity, which should be supported by incessant news on social media channels. Take advantage of the power of varied content, try pictures, video, graphics and gifs that will help you reach your target group.

6. Listen to the crowd

The Kickstarter campaign is like a sinusoid. Sometimes upstairs, sometimes downstairs. Land, not to stay in this second place too long.

The best thing you can do is to be patient, calm and prudent in promoting the project. Act as planned, and you will not stray from the path you have chosen. You are one step ahead if you listen to backers. Many of them are Kickstarter’s stagers who have helped many startups to develop.

7. Be flexible

The plan, as we have already mentioned, is important, but you can not let it tame you. Some Kickstarter enthusiasts have so many great ideas that it would be a shame not to use them! If a fan comes up with a new prize, do not be denied and try to implement it.

8. Get joy from it

The campaign is a time of full mobilization when the day is getting longer. Before the start, be sure to rest, to be prepared for total penetration of 24/7 marketing, where every moment the activity from the virtual crowd is recorded. In such moments the strategy is important, but do not forget about ordinary human joy. Regardless of whether it’s the first or tenth campaign you’re running.
