Steam Link arrives on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV
Steam Link is the application that takes the games from your computer to your Android device. Available a year ago on the Android, Android TV and Raspberry Pi platforms, it comes now free of charge to all iOS and Apple TV users.
To play you just need to have a command paired with your device, and connect to a computer running Steam on the same local network. This is a service you can only use at home. But without the need to be in front of the computer.
If you have an Apple device with iOS 11.0 or higher, you can now download the app directly from the App Store. Steam Link is available for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and also for Apple TV. This is a streaming gaming service, which allows you to play computer games out of it.
Apple rejected Steam Link a year ago
The arrival of Steam Link to the App Store is surprising, since Apple rejected the application of Valve a year ago. Given that the US government threatens to sue Cupertino company for monopolization, this may be one of the reasons for Apple’s strategy change in this process.
If you are an Android user, and you have never used the service, you can download Steam Link through the Play Store . For users of Raspberry Pi, the process is more complex. However, Steam provides all instructions through its community page .
The better your internet connection, the better the quality offered by Steam Link. Valve’s advice is that the computer’s connection to the computer is done by cable, and that the 5GHz band (when possible) is privileged for better service stability.
