Citroën reveals new concept of 100% electric car

3 min read

We are witnessing the renewal of the concept car. From “fossil” to electric, many brands are already positioned to offer customers their proposals. Tesla opened the dance, other brands entered the dance, and soon, we will have practically all the marks in the same melody. So it is not surprising that Citroën also wants to have a presence in this environmental chord.

The French brand presents a concept car, incorporating urban electric mobility. Let’s get to know the 19_19 Concept.

19_19 Concept: Citroën reveals new concept of 100% electric car

100% electric car, but ultra comfortable

The 100% electric 19_19 Concept car expresses Citroën’s vision for ultra comfort and extended mobility to escape from cities. In addition to this concept, as we saw in February, the brand also has Ami One . Thus, to confront the new trend, the company has two electric concept cars that respond to all the needs of customers willing to move freely, in a world asking for “always more”.

Although this car has been presented as a “viable” idea, the concept has exceptional proportions for the automotive segment. It has a length of 4.65 meters, a height of 1.60 meters and a wheelbase of 3.10 meters. However, it draws inspiration from the worlds of aviation. In addition, its interior design is a hymn to technology and comfort. Autonomous level 4 systems , artificial intelligence and much more related to electric vehicles are mentioned .

100 years of Citroën with eyes on the vanguard

The brand has always been bold, always wanted to be original. Who can not remember the 2 CV, the frog’s mouth (ID 19), the Dyane, or the CX?

In the year of its 100th anniversary, Citroën projects in the future two of its key genes, still writing the success of today: bold design and 21st century comfort – advanced comfort, in particular 4 seats featuring their own universes individuals. Electric motor, proactive personal assistant and autonomous driving technologies.

Xavier Peugeot, director of Citroen Product, said.

Taking comfort to a new level with a cabin that is a true living room on wheels, the 19_19 Concept goes beyond the limits of the Citroen Advanced Comfort program. The cab is suspended in a new suspension system with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions combined with intelligent active control and features a unique layout informed by the world of furniture with individualized seats, each expressing a vision of comfort.

The concept reinvents the long car journeys, outlining an approach to ultra comfort, bringing the occupants regenerative and restorative journeys. In this way, the car stands out as a modern approach to design and technology that promotes a new automotive experience.

Therefore, the message is guided by the “mental detoxification” of the concept of travel.

19_19 Concept: Features of this electric that can make the difference

This is a really challenging design. Despite the fact that it has eccentric lines, there is a lot of “realism” about the near future of the automobile.

The 19_19 Concept is a 100% electric car that allows you to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in five seconds. Its maximum speed is 200 km / h. Powered by 100 kWh batteries, the vehicle is a 4WD consisting of two motors (one at the front and the other at the rear) that allows a torque of 800 Nm for power of 340 kW.

In terms of autonomy, the vehicle has a range of 800 km under the WLTP protocol.

Fast loading is also thought of. In this way, the 19_19 Concept with 20 minutes of load allows to achieve 600 km of range. Calm down, that’s not all yet. This vehicle comes equipped with charging without cables, because the 19_19 Concept brings induction charging technology in which the batteries can charge directly while driving wherever the road infrastructure allows.

Price and availability

Prices were not advanced. However, the  concept will be revealed as a world premiere at VivaTech in Paris on May 16, 2019. Certainly in this event we will know more about this interesting vehicle.
